"The Thing"

I told myself that if I ever received a new kidney, I'd find a way to honor it. I had no idea how I would do it. Or when I'd find the inspiration. But that commitment was solid.
Yesterday I finally had my aha! moment.
I had decided to create and gift some small prints - 4 inch x 5 inch - of my piece "Love". Then I remembered one of my friends has a friend who is battling cancer. So I decided to send her a card to know I was thinking of her. Then I realized that I have a friend battling cancer and that he could use someone in his corner as well.
And then it came to me.
I understand the struggles these warriors are fighting; we're all dealing with diagnoses that we'll never escape.
Yes. I have a new kidney. But I'd be lying if I said that I didn't worry every day that it'll reject.
My plan is to combine my art with my words and reach out to people who have been diagnosed with chronic conditions. I'm hoping it brings them peace, maybe a smile and, most importantly, the knowledge that they're not alone.
I've named this movement "Love Pray Art" and eventually - if I can find a way to fund everything through art and/or t-shirt sales - it will be self-funding. In the meantime, it'll be a labor of love.
Here are the words I'm sending with the prints:
I want you to know that I see you. I see the strength and courage it takes to face each day with the weight of your diagnosis resting heavily on your shoulders. The silent battles you fight, the unseen struggles you endure—they do not go unnoticed.
In the quiet moments when the world seems too heavy to bear, I want you to remember that you are not alone. You are surrounded by love, enveloped in the warm embrace of those who care deeply for you. You matter more than you could ever imagine, and your presence in this world makes it a brighter, more beautiful place.
As you navigate the twists and turns of your journey, remember to keep fighting. Your resilience is awe-inspiring, and your determination is unwavering. Even in the face of adversity, you continue to persevere with grace and dignity.
Continue to love fiercely—with all your heart and soul. Let love be your guiding light, illuminating the darkness and filling your days with warmth and joy. And in those moments when words fail you, know that prayer has the power to soothe the soul and provide solace in times of need.
Please accept this art as a token of my love and support. May it serve as a reminder that you are not alone in your fight.
